Halloween fast approaching!!!!

Halloween will be here before you know it. For me Halloween has always been a time when I can catch up again with some of my favorite horror movies. You can never go wrong with the classic Universal horror films like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, the Invisible Man, the Creature and so many others like the Black Cat, Raven, and Murders at the Rue Morgue. In fact this Wednesday some friends and I are going to see a classic double feature on the big screen Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein at the Paramus Theater. It should be great watching two fantastic films on the big screen. I also try to watch some of my favorites in sci-fi that are also scary like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Forbidden Planet, The Day the Earth Stood Still and of course The Thing From Another World. All of these classics as well as many more are on our website and available for purchase before Halloween. I wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween and please stay in touch by blog or come to one of our shows. Take care everyone. |
Garden State Comic Con

Some thoughts about the Garden State Comic Con held this past weekend in Cherry Hill. My wife Mary and I had a great time. I met Jackson Bostwick who played Captain Marvel in the 1970's show Shazam. He was very gracious and a gentleman. As far as sales go - Saturday was an OK day. However what the heck happened to all the people on Sunday. The place was DEAD! We were fighting over the few customers who showed up LOL. Maybe the show should have only been one day. $25 to walk through the door and the $40 price tag for Barbara Eden's autograph certainly didn't help my sales. Oh well hopefully the Radio Show Convention in Newark will be better. |
Return From the MANC

This year's MANC was wonderful and a lot of fun. We spoke to many people at the convention who share our love of nostalgia and old movies and TV. I got the chance to speak to Michael Constantine. I asked him about the Odd Couple episode that he was in and we laughed and laughed. He seemed like a nice man. I then spoke to Jimmy Hunt who starred in one of my favorite sci-fi movies Invaders From Mars. He was nice as well and the whole convention was fun. Our dealer tables were near Patty Duke and she seemed very busy and very patient with the fans. She seemed to love the attention. I was able to acquire several items that I will always cherish. I am looking forward to reading Martin Grams book on the Shadow Radio Program. Well that is all for now. Hope that all had a great time at the MANC and that we will see you at Wayne this Sunday or at the Garden State Comic Con on Saturday and Sunday Oct. 8-9. All the best to all. |

By the way. Just finished Martin Grams book about the Green Hornet. It is a must read for all those interested in old time radio or just the Green Hornet. He writes about the old radio programs and the 1960's TV show with Van Williams and Bruce Lee. Highly recommended as is all of Martin Grams books. |
A great old friend

Welcome to all. Some of my fondest memories involve old horror and sci-fi films, vintage TV, cliffhanger serials, classic cartoons and comic books. I grew up with the old Universal Horror films with Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman, the Mummy, and the Creature From the Black Lagoon. I could hardly wait to see if one of the TV stations in my area would play some of those great films when I was a kid. The Munsters gave us a chance to laugh and enjoy the monsters again and again. And is there really a better comedy movie than Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein? I remember watching Invaders From Mars with my mom, dad and brother late one night. That movie scared the hell out of me. I remember running home after school every afternoon to watch Dark Shadows or staying up late to watch Star Trek or The Wild Wild West. I remember watching my first serial which was Captain America and it is still one of my favorites along with the Adventures of Captain Marvel. I used to wake up early on Saturday morning just so I could watch the Adventures of Col. Bleep, the Mighty Hercules and Heckle and Jeckle. And I always loved my comic books especially the Silver Age of Marvel with Spidey, Thor, the FF, the Avengers and Daredevil. That has to be why I have begun this business. I love going to the shows and talking to people that share my love of these forms of entertainment. My wife Mary always asks me why I watch the same movies or TV shows over and over again. The answer is very simple! They are like old friends. I enjoy them, know what to expect without any surprises and they are true forms of entertainment. I hope that by purchasing some of my wares or even taking some time to examine my site, it will bring back some of those great memories for you. What do you think? Let me know! PD |
